I make two- and three-dimensional images and reliefs that play with the tension between abstraction and representation, surface and space. Light, shadow and their changing elusiveness play an important role. Although the final works are abstract, I use everyday reality as a point of departure or reference.
My images are created through manipulation, distortion, repetition and simplification. Some works are created by the repetition of a simple movement or shape.
Other images are rather created by exploring how far I can go with deforming and manipulating the material, after which I capture and conserve the shape.
